Wado Ryu System Syllabus
Wado Ryu is a fast, fluid style which emphasizes body movements in
evasion. Evasion is stressed rather than meeting brute force head
on. Techniques are light and quick with the practitioner defending
with deflecting movements accompanied by an immediate counter attack.
Twisting of the hips is emphasized to generate power for the quick,
snappy techniques.
The entire system of training consists of :
| Kata : |
Formal drills simulating imaginary fights against multiple
opponents. Kata in karate is a way of transmitting
information about body movement, technique, and focus. The
information to be learned is literally encoded in the movements,
so that the body learns the principles by performing the
movements correctly. Wado-ryu karate employs kata from
three “Okinawan styles” called Shurite, Nahate, and Tomarite.
